Ever tried to shoot a schnitzel with Rembrandt light? Or use Hollywood light to photograph a carrot? Or apply a touch of makeup to asparagus tips? What I thought.

Lauren Kinkade doesn’t use makeup, but her food portraits still come out good. I find the color composition she employs in her work very pleasing. Her work is less about portraying the food 100% than it is about the whole. The colors are neither intensified by any substances, nor do her images provide massive detail. But that’s not a bad thing, if you ask me. Like I said, the composition as a whole works, so the rest works too. What do you think?
